LEGAL UPDATE: Brisbane City Council wants me to pay more than $70,000 for holding a blank sign outside the Chinese Consulate in Brisbane. This figure includes their supposed court fees for a two hour appearance before the District Court. My barrister Anthony Morris KC has made the following submissions explaining why this is utterly wrong and I should not have to pay anything.
Judge Smith will deliver the costs judgment for Pavlou v Brisbane City Council on Monday, 15 July 2024 at 9.30am in Court 35 in Brisbane. I am very confident and we are already looking forward to a potential Supreme Court appeal. We will take this all the way to the High Court so that we can win a precedent for freedom of expression
