The statement was released by Nino Mangione, a cousin, who serves in the Maryland House of Delegates.
The Mangione family is known throughout the Baltimore region.
The grandfather, Nick Mangione Sr., purchased Turf Valley Country Club in Ellicott City in the 1970s and then developed the golf course community.
The family purchased another country club in the 1980s.
They also own nursing home company Lorien Health Services as well as radio station WCBM-AM, which airs right-leaning programs.
