West Virginia’s Senate committee advanced a bill to speed up the process of removing inactive voters from registration rolls.
SB 487 would cut the period of voting inactivity from four years to two, triggering earlier confirmation notices and moving inactive voters to a six-year removal timeline instead of eight.
Since 2016, the state has removed 400,000 ineligible voter registrations, citing deceased, duplicate, and out-of-state records.
