Three years ago today, I was in my hometown of Volochysk in Khmelnytska Oblast. We had managed to escape Kyiv on the third day after the Russian paratroopers arrived on the outskirts of the city. On March 1st, I was able to take my wife, 18-year-old daughter, and 5-year-old son to the border with Romania, where they crossed on foot to stay at a friend's place.
