This is not true. The referendums were fake and were held without the correct procedures. There have been multiple accounts of international organizations regarding this. The "voting" took place under the watch of Russian rifles and cannot be accepted as legitimate.
People from de-occupied Ukrainian territories have repeatedly shared about mass tortures, kidnapping, constant pressure from the Russian side.
